Senator Emmanuel Bwacha, representing Taraba South in the National Assembly, has drawn the attention of the federal government to the existence of a Boko Harm arms base in Taraba state.

He yesterday during plenary disclosed that a strange helicopter had been dropping strange armed personnel and equipment in the Dakar area of the state, causing apprehension amongst residents.

Bwacha, who came through a point of order during the Senate plenary, urged the federal government and the military authorities to move to the area “immediately to flush out the insurgents before they establish another Sambisa camp in Taraba state.”
He said: “I want to say that our attention has been drawn to a suspicious movements and activities around Dakar in Taraba state and it is believed also that a helicopter is dropping materials and personnel around the place.

“We fear that this may be another Sambisa that is in the making in Taraba state. I recall that sometimes in December, our colleague, Senator Alkali Jajare, drew our attention to the fact that what is happening in Yobe and Borno State could spread to other states of the federation not only in the North-east.

“What has happened in my constituency appears to be a confirmation of what our colleague had drawn our attention to.”
He said the state lawmakers had subsequently called on the federal government to take over the security of the state.
“I want to believe that those who are in charge of this aspect of information management will tell Mr. President this and transmit same, the information on the resolution if it has not been transmitted to him through the state government.

We also received reinforcement in Yola, but I will appeal to Mr President that this particular point, if he will hearken to it that a barracks should be established in this same flash point, Wukari in particular so that this may go a long way to safeguard lives and property which is the primary duty of any government.”
