Thugs beat up Edo PDP youth leader over Onolememen’s N500, 000 largesse

Suspected thugs, believed to be members of Edo state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), yesterday beat up the party’s youth leader, Barrister Vincent Akhere, to a stupor over his refusal to disburse the sum of N500, 000 largesse given to them by the Minister of Works, Arch Mike Onolememen.
He was said to have given the youth the money in appreciation of their solidarity when he flagged off the N3.2 billion Egba-Akure road contract in the state, last Friday.
The youth leader was alleged to have immediately absconded moments after he was handed the largesse, a development that infuriated others.

The angry youths nevertheless apprehended him at the party’s secretariat during an event to receive Governor Adams Oshiomhole’s immediate past Executive Director on Protocol, Mr. Agharese Idubor, into the PDP fold.
It took the intervention of party leaders to stop the situation from degenerating into a full blown crisis.
At the welcoming ceremony for the All Progressive Congress (APC), Agharese Idubor pledged to use the PDP platform to the benefit of members.

“The wind of progress is blowind to the PDP’s direction. I encourage all and sundry to move in the direction of wind of progress,” he said.
On his part, the state PDP chairman, Chief Dan Orbih assured Idubor of a level playing field, adding that “before now I was like a lone voice in the wilderness. I dare say that PDP is good to take over in Edo state.”
