The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu said the Technological Incubation Centres of the Ministry established across the country will provide jobs for the Nigerian youths.
The Minister disclosed this during the Commissioning of the Technological Incubation Centre at the weekend in Lafia, Nasarawa state.
Onu furtherq said that the newly established Incubation Centres will help business/entrepreneur startups, from Micro levels to small, medium and eventually to large business enterprises. He stressed the need for these startups because every major business enterprise started at a micro-level.
According to him that, “this Centre will help produce the next generation of Dangote’s and International business men in Nigeria. The Incubation Centre, is an important institute which the Ministry is using to commercialize research findings.
“The National Board for Technological Incubation (NBTI), gathers together all research findings from the Ministry and all other relevant institutions, with the sole aim of commercialising them.”
The FMST boss further said that the key essence of the establishment of these Incubation Centres was simply to ensure and improve productivity in Nigeria.
Earlier the Director-General of the National Board for Technological Incubation, Engr. Dr. Mohammed Jibrin, described the Technological Incubation Centre as a key government intervention programme to fight unemployment ravaging the country. Adding that, the Centre would be essential in the creation of jobs as investment opportunities will stream into the nation to team up with startup enterprises.
