It’s time to buckle up, NCC boss tells youths

Executive Vice Chairman, National Communication Commission (NCC), Prof. Garba Umar Dambatta, has called on youths to rise to the challenge of creating avenues for self-employment “in the face of the prevailing circumstances.”

Speaking to newsmen in Kano yesterday, Dambatta said the “Nigerian youth have possessed the potential and wherewithal to prove their worth in almost all spheres of human endeavour,” adding that it would be ill-conceived for them to rely on the government for whitecollar jobs. Dambatta noted that no country in the world could ever move at an appreciable pace with youths becoming reticent and reluctant to take the bull by the horns in joining the fray. He said the country was built on the solid foundation of its past heroes who had struggled to make their mark at the height of their youthful exuberance.

He said “with Nigeria’s huge population blossoming witheach passing day, it is an abiding obligation for the country’s youths to retrace their steps in charting a positive course for themselves,” stressing that “their future is bright in the parlance of governance and leadership.” On the giant strides by his administration since coming on board, Dambatta stated that he had effected far-reaching revolutionary reforms aimed at repositioning the Commission on high pedestal in line with his eight-point cardinal agenda “premised on the good concept of governance being entrenched by the Buhari administration.”

He said it was the responsibility of the Commission to embolden the confidence of teaming subscribers of various networks “by way of compelling them to provide hitchfree services to consumers for them to have faith in us. According to him, the Commission has been up and doing in maintaining a world- class standard in communication activities.
