Ahead of the 2023 presidential election, an Igbo group on the aiges of Omaluegwuoku Progressive Initiative (OPI) has declared its readiness to mobilise massive support for the emergence of Tinubu/Shettima presidency, saying the ticket has gone beyond ethnic or religious biases.
Speaking at the unveiling of Igbo Kwenu 4 Asiwaju/Shettima, Thursday in Abuja, the convener of the group and serving federal commissioner representing Enugu state at the Federal Character Commission, Hon. Ginika Tor, said Nigerians should know that Igbos were ready not only to vote for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presidency but will mobilise massively across the 36 states and the FCT for APC’s victory in 2023.
Hon. Tor also denied reports in a section of the media that APC leaders were fighting over the campaign council list, saying everyone can not be included.
The inauguration brought together all the zonal and state coordinators of the group from the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory.
According to the commissioner, the gathering of notable Igbo leaders at the event has put an end to lie that Igbos won’t vote APC in 2023.
“We have looked at everything and we have seen that at this point we have gone beyond ethnic bias, religious sentiment or whether you are from Southeast or not. Prior to emergence of Tinubu as our candidate, I advocated for Igbo presidency but after my party had come up with someone else, and not just anybody but a man that has done it before, remember the saying that someone who has done it before can do it again. Tinubu is brilliant, he is capable, he is dependable and has all the good qualities needed in a leader.
“We want Nigerians to know that we are changing the narrative. We are fighters, we represent greatness, we are strong and we are self made. We are in politics to take care of our people
“At this point we are now, we are ready to move around Nigeria to ensure that Igbo is recognised in the mainstream of politics. We are now going out in unity and are ready to move in one Voice to deliver Tinubu/Shettima come 2023.
“I want to tell everyone that we the Igbos are ready for Tinubu. We shall be visiting the 36 states and FCT to mobilise our people and ensure they vote for our candidate in 2023. This time around we are moving out in full force and where the campaign goes we will be there a day before to mobilise the Igbos by God’s grace and victory is assured.”
