TOHFAN, FCMB invest N120m on tractors to farmers in Zaria

Tractor Owners and Hiring Facilities Association of Nigeria (TOHFAN) and First City Monument Bank (FCMB) have distributed 27 tractors worth N120 million on loan to farmer groups in Zaria local government area of Kaduna state on Tuesday.
Speaking at the formal launcing of the facilities the Kaduna Zonal Head of the Bank, Alhaji Gambo Wurno said the gesture was aimed at complementing the federal government efforts toward achieving national food security.
His words “We at FCMB are ready to partner with any organisation or individuals whose desire is to project farming business with a view to boost food production in Nigeria.”
Alhaji explained that his Bank engaged a professional from Zimbabwe who was now handling the farming unit of bank in order to enhance the country’s farming.

AlsoIn speeking the State’s Commissioner for Agriculture Mr. Isaac Bodams said the state government had procured and distributed 180 tractors to farmer cooperative groups in the last three years.
Mr Bodams represented by Acting Director Agricultural Mechanisation, Mr. Victor Madaki noted that the government was planning to map-up the excess farm produce by providing sailors in addition to making necessary arrangement for exporting them abroad.
In his remarks the National Chairman TOHFAN, Alhaji Danladi Garba called on the beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture by making judicious use of the facilities to improve their livelihood and effectively contribute to national growth.
He warned them to be prompt in repayment of the loan, adding that the payback period was 30 months.
