Tornadoes cry out over ‘missing’ N10m 2017 Aiteo Cup prize

Top officials of NPFL outfit Niger Tornadoes have told complained they are yet to receive a cash prize of 10 million Naira as beaten finalists of last year’s Aiteo Cup even after NFF officials informed them the money has been paid out.
Tornadoes lost to Akwa United in a pulsating penalty shootout when scores were tied in regulation time of the 2017 Aiteo Cup final.
A top official of the Minna club told SCORENigeria: “We are yet to receive the cash prize money of 10 million Naira for finishing as runners-up of the Aiteo Cup.
“Akwa United have received their own cash, but in our case, we were told the money was also paid out, but this was most certainly not to Niger Tornadoes.
“We have made efforts to ascertain who has collected the money on our behalf, but to this day, we have not been able to know.
“The players are very unhappy about this development because they ought to have a share of this prize money.” Further efforts by SCORENigeria to find out who cashed the 10 million Naira on behalf of the club have so far been unsuccessful.
The cup competition is organised by the NFF and executive committee member Ahmed Yusuf ‘Fresh’ is the chairman of the Niger FA.
