Toto: Group constructs road, donates 18 motorcycles to end banditry

The Egbura National Development Association (ENDA), a socio- cultural group of Egbura speaking people in Kogi, Nasarawa and the FCT, has commenced construction of Kanyehu-Uttu road in Toto LGA of Nasarawa state.

The move is to augment efforts of the security in clearing the areas of criminal elements.

The areas had become a safe haven for kidnappers and Darul Salaam terrorists groups for years until the recent military operations cleared the areas.

In its contribution towards permanent peace and security of the areas, ENDA commenced the construction of the road to link the local government to border communities of Kogi LGA in Kogi state.

The group said, this development will deny the criminals the escape routes they used after committing their heinous activities, as well as opening up the areas for socio-economic cooperation with their neighbours.

The group has also donated a number of 18 motorcycles to the security agents to boost their capability to rid the areas of the remnants of the displaced criminals in the LGA.

Presenting the motorcycles to the executive chairman of the LGA, Prince Nuhu Adamu Dauda, the chairman of the Welfare, Finance and Implementation Committee, Musa Ahmadu Adohinoyi, represented by Isimbabi Mohammed Garba, stated that 10 and three (3) motorcycles each were for Vigilante Group of Nigeria  (VGN ) of Toto LGA and Abaji area council of the FCT respectively, while five were for the use of the military super camp situated at Kanyehu community of the area.

He stated that the gesture was meant to curtail the insecurity challenges facing the area.

He said: “This singular gesture is to express our appreciation for their gallant efforts in dislodging dreaded Darus-salam and bandits who were terrorising the local government areas.

“ENDA as a body is pleased with this singular effort. We will continue to partner with security agents in the area to secure a crime free Toto local government area.

“The activities of bandits and kidnappers in the past had affected the lives of our people negatively.”

Alhaji Adohinoyi stated that the road construction undertaken by the group to link Kenyehu – Uttu on the side of Nasarawa state and  Kparekye Koton Karfe in Kogi state, was to boost security of the area.

“The grading of Kenyehu – Uttu road linking to Kparekye Koton Karfe local government in Kogi state is ongoing and a semi model health facility is under construction and drilling of boreholes to ease the work of our gallant officers.”

In his response, chairman of the local government, Prince Dauda, urged other spirited individuals and groups to emulate ENDA for the overall development of the areas.
