Trader remanded for ‘stealing’ goat

The Doma Area Court in Gombe yesterday remanded a 20-year-old trader in prison custody for allegedly stealing a goat.

The accused identified as Abubakar Adamu of London Maidorawa quarters, Gombe, allegedly stole a brown goat worth N15, 000 belonging to Umar Abubakar of Kasuwar Mata quarters, also in Gombe.

The accused however, pleaded guilty to the charge.

Reading the First Information Report (FIR), Sgt Mohammed Aliyu, said the incident occurred on June 17.

According to the FIR, the accused stole and slaughtered the goat, then took it to Kasuwar Mata to sell to butchers.

The butchers raised alarm following Adamu’s alleged desperate disposition to sell at a giveaway price.

The judge, Aminu Haruna, adjourned the case to June 26 for judgment and ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody. (Premium Times)
