Train collides with vehicles, kill one in Lagos

The driver of a Toyota Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) with registration number Lagos FST 723 FL died instantly on Monday when he was hit by an upcoming train at Arena and dragged to under the bridge in Oshodi alongside with a white van as the man attempted to cross the rail track, his son, who was with him is currently in the intensive care unit of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) in Ikeja, our reporter gathered.

Reports said the driver of the van had likewise attempted to beat the arrival of the train at the PWD station but was hit by the train as the van veered onto the track and was dragged up to the Arena end before hitting the SUV which was also stuck on the rail track.

Spokesperson for the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency LASEMA, Mr. Nosa Okunbor said the three occupants of the van sustained minor injuries and received treatment at LASUTH.

Also, Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu confirmed the incident.
