The Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, has tasked examination bodies in the country to take a leaf from the management of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in reorganising their processes for optimum productivity.
Adamu gave the admonition over the weekend while unveiling the remodelled headquarters complex of the examination body and the foundation laying ceremony of its General Service Department at Bwari, Abuja.
He lauded the management of JAMB for bringing transparent and integrity into its operations by making the exam body a reference point on how to run a government’s agency effectively.
The minister who was represented by the Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission (NUC), Prof. Abubakar Rasheed, stated that the Board “has been prudent in spending resources and has also ensured value for money.”
“There is no doubt about it, that the motto of the Board which is Service and Integrity had long visualised the current leadership of the organisation.
“I, therefore, congratulate Dr Emmanuel Ndukwue, the Chairman of the Governing Board and his team for a wonderful job,” he said.
Adamu, who directed all public examination bodies in the country to clean up their registration process as done by JAMB to ensure transparency, said the Federal Government was fully behind the Board in its determination to battle examination malpractices in its conduct of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Earlier, JAMB Registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, disclosed that the sum of N46 million was expended on remodelling the headquarters complex of the examination body in Abuja.
He vowed that the board would stop at nothing to ensure exceptional sanity in its examination to meet the needs of Nigerians and the international public.
