Tribunal reprimands litigants on bribery

The national assembly election petition tribunal sitting in Jos has held its inaugural and pre-hearing session, with caution on litigants against any attempt to bribe its members.

The 3-man tribunal was chaired, by Justice, T. N. Nzegwu, and flanked by the duo of Justices, O. M. Adejemo, as well as, M. L. Lawal, as members.

In his inaugural speech, the tribunal chairman, Justice T. N. Nzegwu, said they would work hard to dispense fair justice irrespective of religious or political consideration, to all litigants.

He reprimanded parties and counsels involved; “not to attempt at trying to bribe any member of the tribunal.”

It heard maters filed by Hon, Sanusi Muhammad Inuwa, of the United Progressives Party (UPP), challenging the omission of his party logo, in the ballot of the Plateau North Senatorial district, which INEC declared Hon. Istifanus Gyang, of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as winner.

The tribunal also heard the petition filed by Dungs Gyang of the All Progressives Congress (APC), challenging the returned of Dachung Bagos of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) as member-elect for Jos East/Jos South Federal Constituency among others.

The tribunal adjourned the session to Tuesday, 7th May, 2019.
