Tribunal set to decide Lalong’s fate Wednesday

The Plateau state Governorship Election Petition Tribunal will today deliver judgement on a petition pending before it that had challenged the election of Governor Simon Lalong.

Senator Jeremiah Tumbut Useni and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are challenging the returned of Governor Lalong as the duly elected governor of Plateau state.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)had declared Lalong elected in the March 9 governorship poll, but the PDP and its candidate in the election thought otherwise and subsequently sought the intervention of the tribunal to upturn the election.

The tribunal secretary, Mr Washington Ugwu, said the judges will deliver judgement on the only petition today.

The three-man tribunal is chaired by Justice H. Suleiman.
