Troops kill 12 bandits in Kaduna

Troops of 1 Division, Nigerian Army, on operation Idon Raini at Dogon Dawa in Kaduna state, have killed 12 armed bandits after a gun duel.
Army spokesperson, Brig.-Gen. Texas Chukwu said in a statement that the troops had Thursday gone on covert operation Kidandan, Maidaro and Sabin Fili villages in Kaduna state, after learning that bandits patronised the village markets for food and other supplies.
He said: “Following a tipoff, troops and vigilance groups infiltrated the market on clandestine operation to identify the bandits.
“Few hours later, after appearance of other uniformed troops to arrest the identified bandits, serious firefight ensued between troops and the fleeing bandits.
“In the process, due to superior fire power of own troops, 12 of the fleeing bandits were neutralised.
“Items recovered after the encounter include: 32 Motorcycles, five Handsets, Nine Thousand One Hundred and Thirty Five Naira (N9,135.00).” Chukwu urged the public to continue to provide “credible and timely” information to security agenciea to enable them ride the country of criminal elements.
