Troops kill 4 terrorists, injure several others

Troops of Operation FIRE BALL, a subsidiary of Operation LAFIYA DOLE, killed two Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters and inflicted gunshot on several others during a clearance operation at terrorists hideouts at Garal Village and Bulankesa village of Borno state.

Acting Director Defence Media Operations, Brig. Gen. Bernard Onyeoku who disclosed this in a statement Sunday said the operation was conducted on November 27,2020.

Onyeoku said on the same day troops of Strong Response Area Pulka also killed two terrorists during a gun duel with twrroists during a “robust clearance patrol” at area Ashigashiya.
He said several terrorist also escaped with gunshot wound during the battle.

He said several bags of bags of grain and other food items were recovered, and there after the logistics warehouse was destroyed.

“Similarly, on 27 November 2020, troops of 27 Task Force Brigade laid in wait for some suspected Boko haram/ISWAP criminals around Doksa general area. Troops made contact with the criminals and engaged them with superior gun fire forcing the terrorists to flee into the Bush in disarray, ” Onyeoku said.

” In the aftermath of the encounter, 1 x BHT/ISWAP criminal was neutralized. The following items were recovered; 1x AK 47 Rifle, 2x Mobile Phones, 1x Bow and Arrow and one x Boko Haram Terrorists pass slip(Identification Pass). The recovered items is in custody for profiling.”

He commended the troops for achieving successes, and assured people of North east of the determination of Nigerian military high command “to finally rout the remnants of Boko Haram/Islamic State’s West Africa Province criminals from their enclaves in this zone.”

He also urged them to avail the troops with credible information that will help in the execution of the operation.
