Troops of Operation Hadarin Daji and SAHEL Sanity have renegade secured 20 kidnnaped victims, including women and children, along Sabon Laying area and Shimfida Gurbi road in Faskari and Basari Local Government Areas of Katsina state.
The troops also killed seven bandits during a patrol along Magira village of Zamfara state on 18 September 2020.
Coordinator Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. John Enenche disclosed this Thursday during a press briefing at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja.
He said the troops also arrested two gunrunners in possession of 1,620 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition at Kudaru Hill along Kaduna-Jos Road in Lere Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
According to him, preliminary investigation revealed that the ammunition was to be delivered to one bandit leader, at a location in Dansadau Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Enenche also disclosed that troops of Operation SAFE Haven arrested 15 suspected ceiminals during their raid SARA SUKA criminals’ hideouts at Jenta Adamu, Rikkos, and Gangare Yan Doya area of Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, as well as Barking Ladi area of Jos.
He said the troops recovered 12 knives, 4 daggers, 4 mobile phones, two swords, assorted charms, a large quantity of substances, suspected to be Cannabis Sativa, and other illicit drugs.
“In the South West Zone of the country , troops of 174 Battalion arrested six suspected gunrunners in possession of 3,560 rounds of ammunition at scrap centre in Ikorodu Local Government of Lagos State, ” he said.
” On 17 September 2020, troops of Operation AWATSE destroyed 350 litres of PMS stored in containers at Igbologun in Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State.
Equally, troops of 343 Artillery Regiment in conjunction with Nigeria Police Force and Department of State Service personnel arrested eight persons with seven single barrel guns, 2 cartridges, one knife and one Toyota Sienna vehicle at Ifon community in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State. “
Enenche said the suspect had been handed over to the Police for further action.
