Troops rescue 8 women, 6 children from terrorists’ den

Troops of 152 Task Force, 21 Special Armoured Brigade in the ongoing Operation HALAKA DODO in the North east, have rescued eight women and six children held captive by Boko haram terrorists, during a clearance operation in Nbaga and Gero villages of Borno state.

Army spokesperson, Col. Sagir Musa said this in a statement Thursday.

He said the troops had “continued to successfully sustain aggressive long range mobile fighting patrols, raids, searches and ambushes which resulted in the recent successes recorded.”

The troops had on Wednesday also ambushed and killed dozens of terrorists at Goniri village in Yobe State. Many equipment were  recovered from the terrorists after the operation.

In the recent operation in Nbaga and Gero villages troops destroyed the terrorists makeshift camps while several of them were killed, according to the army spokesperson.

He said several equipment including three Ak 47 rifles, five bicycles anda terrorists’ flag were recovered during the operation.

Musa said the women and children rescued would  be handed over to the appropriate agency for further necessary action.

“Similarly, on Wednesday 26 June 2019, troops of 26 Task Force Brigade located in Gwoza while on clearance operation from  Southern Borno axis to Agapalwa village and surrounding localities, troops came in contact with some terrorists which led to an exchange of fire that caused the decimation of one terrorist and the destruction of some terrorists’ camps,” he said.
