Troops uncover IED in Sambisa

Lose officer, soldier to explosives in Borno villages 

Troops of 151 Battalion on fighting patrol within Lt. Col. Abu Ali Shooting Range, Sambisa forest, discovered hole prepared for Improvised Explosive Device (IED) by Boko Haram terrorists on Wednesday 28th June 2017.
Army spokesperson, Bri.-Gen. Sani Usman said in a statement, Saturday, that the unit’s Explosive Ordinance Device (EOD) team detonated the IED, scanned the general area and discovered one cylinder main charge, one pressure plate and three battery abandoned by the terrorists.

He said troops of 82 Task Force Battalion on patrol along Ngoshe-Pulka also discovered three IED buried by suspected Boko Haram terrorists on the road, which was safety detonated by the unit’s EOD team.
Usman said an officer and three soldiers of 133 Special Forces Battalion, while on patrol with their team, lost their lives when a IED buried on the road between Kagarwa and Alagarmo village by terrorists.

He said three members of the team also sustained various degrees of injuries during the encounter, adding that the Hilux vehicle used by the troops was damaged.
In another statement, the army spokesperson said troops of 3 Battalion, 22 Brigade on Thursday 29th June 2019 evening ambushed Boko Haram terrorists along Gamboru-Mussini-Logomani and burn a broken down truck loaded with assorted goods at Mussini village.

He said the troops neutralize five of the terrorists and recovered 1 AK-47 rifle with registration number 565203290, 1 AK-47 magazine, three rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, 27 Bicycles, 10 Machetes and 1 Dagger.
Usman also said troops of the Nigerian Army deployed in various parts of the northeast under the auspices of Operation LAFIYA DOLE and the Multinational Joint Task Force in conjunction with sister Services and other Security Agencies had continued the fight against terrorism “relentlessly”, through patrols, clearance operations, patrols and maintaining blocking positions.

He said troops of 152 Battalion stationed in Banki have been rendering humanitarian assistance to over 887 Nigerian refugees returned from Cameroon since Tuesday 27th June 2017. He said army is also providing shelter at the barracks for several aid workers including UNICEF and UNHCR supported staff.
He said Headquarters of 23 Brigade Nigerian Army at about 2.30pm handed over one Miss Jada Hachaba abducted by terrorist to her mother in the presence relatives and Alhaji Bello, the District Head of Gulak at the Brigade’s Headquarters in Yola, on the 29th June 2017.

Usman said troops of 159 Battalion Nigerian Army arrested two suspected Boko Haram terrorists’ collaborators/informants; Abubakar Ahmed aged 23 years and Aji Maina aged 45 years, on Wednesday 28th June 2017 at Garin Gada and Kanamma respectively.
He said Vigilant elements of 8 Division Nigerian Army stationed at Kukawa, northern Borno State have on 29th June 2017, intercepted 2 minors, Abubakar Aji, aged 13, and Isah Mustapha, aged 12, on spying mission on troops location at Kukawa.
