Truck crushes ‘Okada’ rider to death in Ogun

A motorcycle (Okada) rider has died in an accident involving a truck, yellow LT bus and a Bajaj motorcycle at Ahmadiya axis, opposite NNPC, Iganmode road Ota in Ogun state.

The Spokesperson, Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi confirmed the incident to newsmen in Abeokuta, Thursday.

Akinbiyi noted that the incident occured at 8:20 am, adding that the accident was caused by the recklessness of the motorcyclist who was over speeding which led his bike to hit the stationed bus parked by the road side from the rear and in the process fell under a moving containerised truck in motion.

”According to eyewitness account, the motorcyclist, due to reckless and dangerous riding, lost control and hit a stationary bus by the road side, then fell off the motorcycle and rolled under a moving containerized truck which rolled over him,” he said.

The TRACE spokesman admonished motorcyclists to exercise caution and ride responsibly in view of the attendant consequences of excessive speeding.

He said three people were involved in the accident.

He added that the family of the deceased rider had claimed his body with the permission of the police in charge.
