Truck kills 4 students, Okada rider in Ejioku, Ibadan

 

Tragedy struck in Ejioku town in Lagelu local government area of Oyo state as four secondary school students and an Okada rider were crushed death.

The secondary school students and the Okada rider met their untimely death when they were crushed to death while on Okada on their way to school along Ibadan – Iwo road.

Eye witness account said the driver of the truck was trying to avoid hitting some sheep said to be on the highway when he lost control and crushed the motorcycle and the five people on it.

The eye witness account said the four secondary school students and the Okada rider died on the spot.

The development sparked up protest in the town as students took to the streets to protest the killing of the four students by the truck.

Confirming the accident, Oyo state Police spokesman, CSP Lawrence  Fadeyi, stated that the Police DPO in charge of Ejioku division has sent the signal to the state command on the accident.

“It is true. The DPO told me that the incident happened when the driver of the truck was trying to avoid killing sheep and rammed into the students on okada. Police moved to the area to ensure life and property were not vandalised by the angry students,” he said.
