U-17 AFCON qualifier: Eaglets seek revenge against host Niger Republic

The Golden Eaglets will hope to avenge their elimination from the 2017 U- 17 AFCON when they face hosts Niger in the semi-final of the zonal 2019 U-17 AFCON qualifiers this evening in Niamey, Niger Republic.
The grudge match will kick off by 7.30 pm at the Seyni Kountche Stadium in Niamey.
Niger shocked the more illustrious Eaglets to qualify for the 2017 U17 AFCON in Rwanda.
Nigeria assistant coach Nduka Ugbade said: “We’re beaten by Niger (2017 U17 AFCON qualifiers).
“We will do battle against them again no matter the situation.” Today’s match will be one between the solid defence of Niger, who have yet to concede a goal thus far, and the rampant Eaglets attack, who have netted seven goals.
The first semi-final will be between Group A winners Ghana against Cote d’Ivoire, who fought back from a 5-1 loss to Nigeria to beat Burkina Faso 3-0.
The game will kick off 4.30pm at the same venue.

 

2019 AFCON Qualifier: Libya to host Super Eagles in Algeria

The Libya Football Federation has confirmed that the Mediterranean Knights will host Nigeria at a yet to be named venue in Algeria in their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match day four encounter on October 13.
The managing director of the Libyan national team, Adel Al-Khumisi who revealed the decision of the LFF in a press statement also stated that the team will not be involved in any friendlies prior to the match day three encounter against the Super Eagles.
Libya occupy top spot in Group E after a win and draw in their opening two games against Seychelles and South Africa.
Their next game is an away fixture against third placed Nigeria on October 10 with the reverse fixture to take place three days later in Algeria.
Libya have played their home games at neutral venues over the last five years because of a FIFA ban imposed on the country after the civil war of 2011.
They played their first game of the qualifiers at the Petro Sport Stadium in Cairo, where they defeated Seychelles 5-1.
