UCL matchday 2 preview: Juve, Barca set to do battle

Barcelona will look to bounce back from their El Clasico defeat when they take on Juventus at the Juventus Stadium.

The Catalans were 5-0 winners over Ferencvaros in their opener to lead Group G, while Juve beat Dynamo Kyiv 2-0 on the road. Juve will once again be without the services of Cristiano Ronaldo, who continues to be out after testing positive for COVID.

Barca were soundly beaten at the Nou Camp by Real Madrid and they will look to avoid a second defeat in a row. They have three wins against Juventus and coupled with the absence of their main man, the Catalans could pull off an upset.

Ferencvaros will entertain Dynamo Kyiv at the Groupama Stadium, with both sides beginning a two way battle for third spot.

Man United and RB Leipzig will clash in what is sure to be an entertaining encounter at Old Trafford. United pulled off yet another impressive victory over PSG and can now make their mark on H with a win.

Leipzig will be no pushover however. The sale of Timo Werner to Chelsea hasn’t affected them as they lead the Bundesliga table and are yet to lose a game. It will be a close encounter, with the Red Devils expected to come out on top.

PSG will travel to Turkey to face Istanbul Basaksehir, with the French side looking to pick up their first win of the campaign.

The Parisiens warmed up for this game with a 4-0 thrashing of Dijon, with Kylian Mbappe and Moise Kean both scoring twice.

They will now go in search of a similar performance against the Turks, who are certain to be the whipping boys of the group.

Following a 3-1 defeat to Lazio, Borussia Dortmund will now play host to Zenit St. Petersburg as they target their first win of the campaign.

Victory over Ajax in the Bundesliga has lifted spirits yet again and they should have no problems dispatching the Russian giants.

Lazio will make the trip to the Jan Breydel Stadium to face Club Brugge. The Italians were clinical in their win over Dortmund, and can now make it back to back victories against a tricky Brugge outfit.

The Belgian side beat Zenit 2-1 in their opener, and you wouldn’t put it past them to pull off an upset.

Chelsea will travel to face Krasnodar in  Russia as they search for their first win in Group E.

The Blues were held to a goalless draw at Stamford Bridge by Sevilla on the opening day, and they come into this on the back of another goalless draw, this time against Man United in the Premier League.

They will face a tricky test against the Russians who held Rennes to a draw on the road. Now in familiar territory, Murad Musayev will hope his players can make it a memorable night in Krasnodar.

Sevilla will entertain Rennes at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan. Following a goalless draw in their opener against Chelsea, Los Nervionenses will now fancy their chances of picking up all three points against a Rennes side who are showing signs of complacency.

They have failed to win any of their last three matches and were beaten by Angers last week for the first time since 1976. This represents a chance to get a good result, but that seems highly unlikely against the Spanish dark horses.
