UEFA Europa League: Win or lose, Chelsea ‘ll sack Sarri – Report

Chelsea are set to sack Maurizio Sarri this summer – even if he wins the Europa League.

According to reports in Italy, Roman Abramovich is being tipped to axe the Blues boss after an indifferent debut season in England.

Under Sarri, 60, Chelsea reached both the Carabao Cup and Europa League finals, as well as qualifying for next season’s Champions League.

It is understood the ex-Napoli chief’s main priority was to break back into Europe’s elite competition.

But despite having done that, Gazzetta dello Sport have revealed the Blues boss will be given the boot.

Abramovich is said to believe Sarri has a poor rapport with Chelsea fans and the toxic relationship is likely to doom the club in the long run.

Blues fans have booed Sarri for much of the season, even being heard chanting “f*** Sarri-ball” amid a particularly poor run of form.

The fact Chelsea managed to secure a top-four spot this term was largely down to the woeful late-season form of Arsenal and Manchester United.

But despite being under intense pressure, Sarri believes he will stay at the Bridge next season.

When asked, the Italian replied: “I think so, but I am not sure.

“I can say only that the club asked me for the Champions League, and we reached the target.

“As you know very well, I love English football. I love the Premier League; it’s fantastic and the level is the best in the world, I think.

“The atmosphere in the stadiums is wonderful. I would like very much to stay here.”
