Ujam dumps PDP for APC

Immediate past member that represented Nkanu East/Nkanu West in the Federal House of Representatives, Dr. Chukwuemeka Ujam, Monday dumped the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Enugu state for the ruling All progressive Congress (APC).

The former federal lawmaker and close ally of ex- Governor of Enugu state, Barr. Sullivan Chime, joined the party with his numerous supporters.

He was officially received into APC after registering with the party at his Akpasha, ward Akegbeugwu in Enugu South Council area by the APC state Caretaker Committee Chairman, Dr. Ben Nwoye, ex- Nigeria’s Senate President, Chief Ken Nnamani and members of the Enugu state registration/membership revalidation committee, led by Senator Jonathan Zwingina, among other chieftains of the party.

Speaking at the event, the state Caretaker Committee Chairman, Dr Nwoye, expressed happiness over the development and progress of APC in the state under his watch, especially by successfully wooing and enlisting PDP’s finest brains such as Emeka Ujam.

Dr. Nwoye thanked the party stalwarts and faithful that graced the occasion for their unwavering faith and support to the APC.

While performing the induction rituals on their new entrant, former Senate President, Dr Ken Nnanani, described Ujam as a man of excellent education and exposure coupled with an intimidating family and social pedigree.

He said: “your quality education and exposure are well documented. As a big fish that only swims in big water, we, APC, stand to gain what the PDP mistakenly lost in you.

Chief Nnamani, had pleaded with Ujam to bring his wealth of experience in politics to bare in his new party.

In his remark, Dr. Chukwuemeka, who is also a former Commissioner for Lands in Enugu state, stated that his decision to join APC was not an easy one as it involved a wide range of meetings and consultations with friends, superiors and political allies across the length and breadth of the country.

“I did not leave the PDP, it was the PDP that left me” promising to bring his political expertise to bear in his new party.

He expressed appreciation to all that graced the occasion, as he pledged to be a true party man.
