UK, US, Canada urged to place visa ban on Osun gov

A human right activist, Olawale Adebayo Bakare, popularly called ‘Mandate’, has called for visa ban on Governor Adegboyega Oyetola to the United Kingdom, United State of America and Canada, for alleged use of force and abuse of power.

Bakare concerned indigene of Osun state, Olawale Adebayo Bakare (Mandate), Bakare in a statement issued as a concerned indigene of Osun state on Saturday and made available to newsmen, said the governor deserved to be banned from traveling abroad for his ‘tyrannic style of leadership.

He alleged that the governor employed and sponsored hoodlums to disperse peaceful protest of youths that are agitating for abolition of Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.

According to Bakare, the intervention of Governor Oyetola led to the death of two protesters, Lateef Mutiu aka Fresh and Halimi Ahmed Olamilekan.
He alleged that Oyetola bribed two families of the deceased with N500,000 (less than $1,400/£1,200) each.

‘Mr Mutiu Lateef and Ahmed Olamilekan are among the peaceful protesters who were shot multiple times at the back and other places that clearly suggest they were running for their lives and they were never a threat to the killer, but unfortunately both of them could not survive the gruesome attack and died painfully.

“The incessant attacks on critics and peaceful agitators, the gross violation of human rights, and the undemocratic and violent tendencies of the desperate Gboyega Oyetola- led administration to repress dissidents should not be overlooked and left unchecked.

“We hereby humbly request for the immediate Visa ban on the governor of Osun State Alh. Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola, as a way to curb his despotic and tyrannical style of leadership, overmilitarising the state through excessive use of force and abuse of power,” he added.
