Umahi, journalists, others trapped as hoodlums invade Abakaliki, set another police station ablaze

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state was trapped at the old government house Abakaliki while in a meeting with palliatives committee members and contractors handling the rehabilitation of the13 general hospitals in the state.
Umahi during the meeting got a signal that hoodlums set Central Police station (CPS) Abakaliki on fire which made him cut short the program.

It was rumored that the hoodlums wrote to the police station that they were coming, especially as unconfirmed report had it that one of their members were gunnned down at the station last week during their heinous activities in the state.
Journalists, members of the palliatives committee, contractors and workers were also trapped as the gate of the government house was locked to avoid the hoodlums gaining entrance.

The gate was locked for over one hour before the governor and others were finally allowed to go.
Blueprint gathered that the hoodlums had earlier in the early hours of Monday mobilised themselves, and targeted warehouses where palliatives were allegedly hoarded.

Roads were deserted for some hours, but normalcy has been restored in the state capital as at the time of filling this report.
