Umahi, Ogbuorji trade words over defection allegation

Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi state said a statement allegedly credited to Senator Sonni Ogbuorji that he would defect to the All Progressives Congress does not matter anywhere.

The governor disclosed this on Wednesday through his chief press secretary Emmanuel Uzor.

Mr Uzor who alleged that the rumour came from Ogbuorji who was the All Progressive Congress APC governorship candidate in the just concluded 2019 general elections said Ogbuorji is acting out of frustration.

According to him the landslide Victor by Gov. Umahi of PDP has disorganized Ogbuorji.

He said: “Rather than accepting defeat, the verdict of the people of Ebonyi state has shown in their ballot because he has been rejected by the people. Ogbuorji has taken his campaign propaganda far beyond the state to Enugu where he briefed the Press.

“Let me say that there is no move by the Governor to leave Peoples Democratic Party. Is it now that he has nurtured the party in South-east remaining one state(Anambra) which we are hoping  that in 2022 when election will be conducted their we will take it.

“The Governor had stood with the PDP right from the time he became the chairman of the party.

I want to tell the people to disregard the information it’s not true” he added
