Uneasy calm as seperate road crashes leave 2 dead, 5 injured in Ogbomosho

Two persons including a motorcyclist on Sunday met their untimely death in Ogbomoso, Oyo state in two separate accidents involving a petrol tanker and haulage trailer, then commercial motorcyclists. 

According to eye witness account, the two autocrashes were recorded at Odo Oru area along Ogbomoso-Igbeti road in Ogbomoso, leaving about five others injured.

The eye witness said the first accident occurred when a tanker driver lost control and rammed into an oncoming motorcyclist coming with a passenger while driving against traffic in its bid to avoid the bad spots on the expressway to link the Igbeti road.

It was gathered that the motocyclist died on the spot while many others sustained injuries while attempting to escape from the scene.

The eye witness stressed that few minutes later, another haulage trailer also lost control and killed one of the passerby in the same spot with others seriously injured.

Following the two accidents on the same spot, some of the residents in the area mobilised to protest the sad incidents but the timely arrival of security agents into the area prevented them with the security agents restoring law and order in the area. 

When contacted, the Federal Road Safely Corps (FRSC) Sector Commandant in Oyo state, Uche Winifred Chukwurah, while confirming the two accidents said two people died  in the two separate accidents. 

The Sector Commandant stressed that only two people were rushed to nearby hospital for treatment in the first accident while there was no record of anyone being rushed to hospital in the second accident.
