Unemployment: Aso Queen to empower 100 youths on vocational skills

The Queen of Aso Nigeria, Juliet Amarachi Gbajie, has disclosed plans to tackle unemployment among youths in the country.
Gbajie who stated this during the 2014 National Youth Empowerment Summit organized by her office said the empowerment will be in the area of vocation training, adding that funds will be given to trainees to set up business ater the training.

She regretted that government has failed to empower its teeming youths, stating that it is the responsibility of government as well as prominent citizens to ensure that young persons are meaningfully and productively engaged.

“Youth empowerment is the concept of general planning, efforts and willingness of the government and other prominent members of the society to patriotically ensure that the youths are meaningfully and productively engaged into gainful activities for their economic and social improvement,” she said.

“In Nigeria, since independence the slogan has been that youths are the leaders of tomorrow. This is even made worst when government never care about the development of the youth or even empower them, so the slogan has been mere lips service as successive administrations have failed to do so,” she decried.

The Aso queen further said that young persons should be ‘built for the future’ while calling on government, corporate bodies and individuals to support ideas on youth empowerment in order to curb corruption, rape, cultism, violence and indecent dressing.

Speaking at the event Senior Special Assistant to President on youth and student matters, Comrade Jude Imagwe, urged youths to understand who they are in order to avoid mistakes in the future.
