UNIABUJA, JICA train students on rice production

Management of the University of Abuja in collaboration with Japan International Corporation Agency (JICA) has organised a three-day training workshop for students of faculty of agriculture on  new method of rice  production and processing technology.

Speaking with Blueprint Saturday, during the training workshop at the University’s main library, the consultant of the agency, Dr Bello Bamidele said the essence of the programme was to teach rice per boilers simple technique of rice processing.

He noted that JICA has conducted similar training in some states before management of University of Abuja keyed into the programme for introduction to students and members of the university community.

Bamidele said that the new technology would in no small measure assist those interested in rice business in the country to boost their income generation.

A resource person from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Alhaji Shuaibu Ishaq  said  the workshop was designed to disseminate Japanese technology to farmers and women who were into per boiling of rice in the nation’s capital.
