Uniben admits 10,909 of 34,497 candidates for 2017/2018 session

 

Only 10, 909 of the 34,497 candidates, who applied for admission into the University of Benin (Uniben), Edo state, have been admitted for the 2017/2018 academic session.
Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Faraday Orumwense, stated this during the matriculation ceremony for the successful applicants.
Orumwense, who administered the matriculation oath on the students, said “the ceremony is an important tradition in Uniben as it avails you (students) the opportunity to formally pledge allegiance to the University authority.”
According to the VC, “the University of Benin is known for its solid reputation for always being the best at everything.
“Both undergraduate and post-graduate run smoothly, placing the university on second position in the National Universities Commission accreditation.
In a related development, the Acting Vice Chancellor of Edo University Iyamho, Prof. Emmanuel Aluyor said the institution’s standard “will not be compromised for any reason”
Aluyor, who stated this during the orientation of fresh students for the 2017/2018 academic session, said the school’s projection was targeted at being a world class university.
He enjoined the newly admitted students to be of good behaviour and focus on their primary objectives of being in the university, which according to him, is to acquire knowledge, character development and entrepreneurial skills.
On her part, the Registrar of the university, Dr. Mrs. Isoken Ogboro, urged the students to be discipline at all times and shun cultism as well as other vices, which could lead to expulsion from the institution.
