Gunmen suspected to be assassins have reportedly shot dead a lecturer of the Department of Public Administration, in University of Benin (UNIBEN), Edo state.
The victim identified as Maxwell Eseosa Aimuen, 33 was said to have been attacked by his assailants while driving into his compound at Isihor community, Ovia South East local government area of the State.
The gunmen were said to have shot the lecturer repeatedly before fleing the scene.
Blueprint gathered that the incident occurred at about 7.20Pm on Saturday.
The late lecturer was said to have gained employment in University of Benin in 2015 as a Graduate Assistant and was recently promoted to lecturer II.
Spokesperson for the Public Relations, Dr Benedicta Ehanire described the late Maxwell as hardworking and dedicated staff and called on security agents to unravel those behind his death.
Edo state police spokesman, Bello Kotongs could not be reached for comment.
