UNIBEN researchers break new ground, produce ventilators


A team of researchers in the Faculty of Engineering and Medical sciences, University of Benin (UNIBEN) has produced a ventilator designed to function in dual mold for children and adult. 
Leader of the team, Prof. Kassington Obahiagbon, said the group also known as COVID-19 initiative “produced the ventilator designed  to work without electricity for at least more than  one hour”.


In a statement issued by the university’s Public Relation Officer (PRO),  Dr.  Benedicta Ehanire, said: “The invention is in response to the Vice Chancellor challenge to various experts in the university to strive to make relevant marks in order to place the institution on a world class pedestal.”
The statement further said the ventilator has been clinically tested and presented to the university’s Vice Chancellor,  Prof. Lillian Salami.
