Unilorin gets 5-year hosting rights of Youth Games

The rights to host the next five National Youth Games, NYG has been awarded to University of Ilorin, Director Grass roots development in the Federal Ministry of youths and sports, Dr Demola Aare has disclosed.
He notes that, the university has a subsisting Memorandum of Understanding, MoU signed with the ministry, adding that, the content of the signed MoU between the ministry and the ivory tower signifies that, Unilorin is entitle to host five succeeding edition that will terminate by 2023.
Aare debunks the perception that, the games is hosted by Kwara state government, pointing out the host of the youth games is the university of Ilorin, stressing that, though the institution enjoys some diverse types of support from the state government, that ensures the successful hosting of the current and previous games staged at the institution.
He said, despite the subsisting MoU between the ministry and the institution, mouth watering proposals from state governments and cooperate bodies that are interested in hosting the games would be entertained.
In a related development, our correspondent reports that, states that are liable for fielding over age athletes at the ongoing National Youth Games NYG will be slammed with N250,000, 00 on each over aged athlete.
According to the organizers, coaches of over aged athletes will also serve a one year ban from the games.
