Unilorin, KWASU, Kwara poly compete for NANS/KWIRS business prize

Students of three higher institutions of learning in Kwara state have begun a three-day presentation and defence of business proposals submitted for an entrepreneurship contest.
The three-day Entrepreneurship  Contest/Summit is being organised by the National Association of Nigerian Students Joint Campus Committee (NANS JCC) Kwara state chapter  in collaboration with Kwara State Internal Revenue Services (KWIRS).
The brainstorming event was flagged- off at KWASU campus, Malete with the themed: “Identifying and Promoting Students’ Entrepreneurship and Innovative Skills”.
First winner of the contest will go home with the sum of N150, 000, while second and third prize winners will get N100, 000 and 50,000 respectively.
KWIRS and NANS JCC joint campus have entered into an agreement aimed at promoting entrepreneurship skills among students.

Under the partnership, NANS will encourage students to come up with business proposals, while the KWIRS will provide funding to execute the best five proposals selected among entries received.
NAN’s chairman, Comrade Tajudeen Habeeb, described the partnership with the revenue body as historic, adding that it would help discover the potentials of brilliant and innovative students.
Meanwhile, a student of Metallurgical Engineering department of Institute of Technology, Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, Mr. Seteolu  Olakunle, has won the sum of N500,000 under Fidelity Bank Entrepreneur saving scheme.
Presenting the winner to the Polytechnic principal officers, the branch manager of the bank, Mr. Funmi Jimoh, stated that the scheme was aimed at supporting students’ academic career as well as enhances and motivate their saving culture.
In his remarks, the Rector,  Alh. Mas`ud Elelu advised the winner to use the fund towards establishing himself, noting that the fund is enough to start certain business or the other.
