The management of the University of Ilorin, Thursday, announced the death of its Council Chairman and Pro-Chancellor, Mallam Abidu Rafindadi Yazid, OON.
Yazid death is coming barely two weeks after he addressed a press conference in Ilorin where he announced the appointment of a new vice-chancellor, professor Wahab Egbewole.
An internal memo signed by the university registrar, Dr Fola M. Olowoleni obtained by our a copy of which was by our correspondent, said Yazid’s death occurred in the earlier hours of Thursday.
The university described the deceased as ‘beloved council chairman’ and prayed to God for the repose of his soul and to grant him eternal rest.
Olowoleni, also on behalf of the university, condoled with the family, the Katsina emirate and its state government and the entire people of Katsina state praying that God grant them the fortitude to bear the loss.
