Union commends Baffa’s strides at TETFund

Senior Staff Union of Colleges of Education in Nigeria (SSUCOEN) has commended the Executive Secretary, Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Dr. Abdullahi Bichi Baff a, over his commitment to checking abuse of process and ensuring judicious utilisation of intervention funds.

National President of the union, Comrade Danladi Ali Msheliza, who passed vote of confi dence on Baff a, said this yesterday, when he led members of his executive on courtesy visit on him in Abuja. Msheliza disclosed that the stance was reached at the 24th National Delegates Conference of the union, held recently at the College of Education, Minna, Niger state. A communiqué made available to TETFund boss, noted that the “union has observed the good works the Executive Secretary has been carrying out to re-position the Fund since his assumption of offi ce.”

“We are here as a union to inform you that at our National Delegates’ Conference which was held in Minna, delegates observed the good works you have been doing ever since you came on board and a vote of confi dence was passed on you;. “It is no more news that without TETFund, tertiary institutions would have been something else today because a visit to our colleges would tell that the Fund is at work and that is why we have come to say thank you for what you are doing.” the communiqué stated. Responding, Baff a congratulated Msheliza for his election as the National President of SSUCOEN and prayed for God’s guidance towards helping his constituents meet their desired aspirations under his leadership. Baff a decried the situation where some scholars and other staff engage in the abuse of intervention processes by not adhering to guidelines, saying some scholars were awarded sponsorship to attend conferences or study for higher degrees, but they violate the terms of approvals granted after funds were released to them
