The newly appointed vice chancellor, University of Port Harcourt, Professor Owunari Georgwill, has outlined his administrative agenda for the growth and development of the university.
Professor Georgwill made the declaration in his inaugural address at a town hall meeting of the institution Wednesday. He said he will run an inclusive administration focusing on a holistic administrative reform.
The academic egg-head said his reform will leverage on the human resources in the institution and prudent financial management, adding that he will nominate to senate to elect and send those elected to council for appointment of a deputy vice chancellor administration, academics, research and development.
He said: “I will reorganise the interval audit, train and retrain staff in that unit in order to enable them perform effectively and there will be no tolerance for poorly audited process, centres and institutes that were under performing.
“My administration will initiate financial reform geared towards keeping prudent financial management and controls, budget formulation mechanisms, fiscal and budget discipline, efficient payment and receipt.
“We will also ensure efficient system to check revenue leakages, optimal utilization of resources and reduction of wastages among others,” Georgwill stated.
