The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the Radio, Television and Theater Art Workers Union (RATTAWU) in Niger state have given two weeks ultimatum to two radio stations in the state to stop the unprofessional conduct of their staff while on air or face picketing by the unions.

The unions also resolved to file compliant before the Broadcasting Regulatory Agencies to sanction the media houses involved in airing provocative programmes, if they failed to abide by the ethics of the profession.

The chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Niger state council, Comrade Abu Nmodu, stated this  weekend in Minna.

He said the resolutions were reached during an interactive session between the leadership of the two unions held at the IBB Pen House.

He said, “The two unions  have given a two- week ultimatum to the management of the affected radio stations to stop  their staff from unethical conduct and gross misconduct during presentation of programmes on airwaves, otherwise we will mobilise members to picket the station.”
