Updated: Badaru signs N30, 000 new minimum wage agreement in Jigawa

Jigawa state governor, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has finally endorsed the N30, 000 new minimum wage agreement, to start from December 2019.

Singing the new minimum wage agreement Wednesday at the Government House Dutse, the governor said the state civil servants will start enjoying it from the 25th of December.

The governor assueed that, “we had not failed you in the last four years and we cannot fail you this time around, up to the end of our tenure.”

Also responding, the state chairman Joint Public Negotiation Council, Comrade Hassan Auwalu, commended Governor Badaru, saying “he is the first to agree to pay N30,000.00 minimum wage in the country.”

He further urged the state civil servants to double up their efforts and work hard to justify the huge amount they receive as monthly salaries.

He said the increase for civil servants from grade levels 1-6 who were receiving N18,000.00 minimum wage is now 23 per cent, while those on grade level 7 and above is 12 per cent consequential pay.
