Updated: Buhari unbundles ministries, creates new ones, retainsPetroleum Ministry portfolio

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday announced the creation of three new ministries namely Ministry of Police Affairs, Ministry of Special Duties and International Affairs, and the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.

This was disclosed by the president at the inauguration of the new Federal Executive Council (FEC) at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The president also announced the unbundling of the Ministry of Power, Works and Housing which was split to create a full-pledge Ministry of Power.

The Ministry of Transportation was also unbundled to to create a full-pledge Ministry of Aviation .

The president also announced the merger of Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Budget and National Planning to form a new ministry called Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Budget and National Planning.

The new Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development is headed by Hajiya Sadiya Umar from Zamfara while the new Ministry of Special Duties and International Affairs is headed by Senator George Akume from Benue state.

Mr Muhammadu Dingyadi from Sokoto state is the minister in the new Ministry of Police Affairs.

Mr Sale Mamman from Taraba state is the minister in the new Ministry of Power while Senator Hadi Sirika takes charge of the Ministry of Aviation.

Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola from Lagos state is now Minister of Works and Housing while Mr Abubakar D. Ali is the Minister of State for Works and Housing.

The president retains his position as the Minister of Petroleum Resources while Mr Timipre Sylva would serve as the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources.
