Gunmen on Saturday kidnapped the Delta state chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Goodluck Ofobruku in Asaba.
Comrade Ofobruku was kidnapped Saturday night at about 8pm by gunmen suspected to be herdsmen.
It was gathered that the NLC boss was driving out of his house behind Immigration office along Ibusa on the Ughelli-Asaba road when he was kidnapped by the gunmen who were at the drinking joint in the area.
Secretary of the NLC in the state, Comrade Innocent Ofoyade, who confirmed the kidnap, said Ofobruku was driving in NLC Sienna bus when he was abducted.
The NLC scribe explained that Ofobruku was driving out that night to buy drugs when he was intercepted by the kidnappers at his street, adding that the abductors were yet to establish contact with the family members.
The state Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, who also confirmed the incident, said police were already combing the bush in search of the kidnapped NLC chairman, assuring that the NLC boss would be rescued unhurt.
