Updated: Jigawa assembly suspends members, receives commissioners nominees

Jigawa state House Assembly has suspended two of its members, Aminu Sankara and Sani ISHAQ representing Ringim and Gumel constituencies, respectively to ensure that they do not interfere with the processes of ongoing investigation into a matter currently being investigating.

This was disclosed by chairman House Committee on Information, Honourable Aminu Zakari representing Gwiwa constituency said they were found trying to hide some documents in the state Ministry of Finance being investigated presently by the house.

Accordingly, he said both lawmakers were suspended to ensure they don’t impede the process of investigation into the alleged financial misappropriation from 2017 when the two were among the principal officers of the house.

When contacted on the allegation, Honourable Sani ISHAQ said he has nothing to say on the alleged suspension and the case in question.   

Also Governor, Mohammed Badaru ABUBAKAR has sent the list of 11 commissioner nominees to the state House of Assembly for screening.

Reading the list before the members, on the floor of the state Assembly Tuesday, the speaker Idris Garba Kareka, applauded Governor Badaru for his timely action, adding that it is in line with the provision of the constitution.

The list contained the names of Dr Abba Umar Zakari, Aminu Usman Yakubu, Ibrahim Baba Chaichai, Muhammad Alhassan and Muhammad Alhassan.

Others are Kabiru Hassan Zugugun, Babangida Umar Gantsa, Yelwa Da’u Tijjani, Salisu Zakari Hadejia, Lawan Yunusa Danzomo and Musa Adamu Aliyu, respectively.
