Updated: Kaduna records first Covid-19 death

Kaduna state has recorded its first Covid-19 death, the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Amina Mohammed Baloni, has revealed.

Speaking via her verified Twitter handle on Saturday, the Commissioner said the deceased is a retired civil servant who had concealed his recent travel to Kano.

According to Dr Amina, the deceased, who had underlying medical conditions prior to testing positive to Coronavirus, had visited a public hospital and a private hospital.

According to her, “He was eventually admitted at the isolation centre with respiratory distress. He died before his positive test result was released.

“He is the first Covid-19 fatality in Kaduna state. His family has been informed of his demise and he has since been buried according to the burial protocol of the NCDC,” Dr. Baloni said.

She however said that officials of the state’s ministry of health were already decontaminating the two hospitals visited by the deceased.
