Updated: Ondo Assembly adjourns over snake invasion

The Ondo state Assembly turned to a house of commotion, Thursday over appearance of snakes at offices and the hallowed chamber’s ceiling as the Speaker Bamidele Oleyelogun and members ran helter-skelter for their dear lives.

An eyewitness, who is a staff of the Assembly, stated that due to the deplorable condition of facilities at the complex, snakes freely enter lawmakers’ offices and the hallowed chamber.

He said Wednesday afternoon that a mysterious snake in one of the offices caused a mild drama and apprehension when it pursued a lawmaker out of his office.

“Today, three snakes fell from the chamber’s roof when the sitting was about to commence and this made all the lawmakers to run for their dear lives.

“The snakes escaped from the scene as some of the lawmakers were seen shaking as if they would die,” he said.

The speaker called on the House to proceed on indefinite recess as their security could not be guaranteed following the ugly development.

The condition of the hallowed chamber is so horrible that most of the ceilings have given way, calling for serious attention.
