Newly appointed Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, Engr.
Aminu Aliyu Wudil, has said that his administration would strive to uphold the cardinal thrust of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje on service delivery.
Speaking at the formal hand-over ceremony from his predecessor, Alhaji Shehu Lambu, who was among the six commissioners dropped, Wudil said as far as his administration was concerned he was ready to work in tandem with directors and managing directors of key government agencies for effective service delivery.
He said the position of the Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport was strategic in planning and execution of viable physical infrastructure that would “have direct bearing on the people, adding that he would operate “an open door policy where ideas and creative initiative could be channeled for greater efficiency and rapid result.
” Wudil said complementing the good efforts of the governor had become imperative “considering the way and manner projects are being executed in all the nooks and crannies of the state.
” According to him, having presided over the affairs of the Kano Roads Maintenance Agency (KARMA) he was conversant with the nitty gritty of operating the ministry.
In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport, Arch.
Ibrahim Garba Kabara, described the new commissioner as “a professional to the core whose vast experience in his field can be utilised in transforming the values of good governance and service delivery.
” He pointed out that achieving “a clearly defined government objective” was not an impossible task if all stakeholders agreed to forge a common front “with every responsibility adequately shouldered,” stressing that the new commissioner would be of advantage to the ministry in achieving the desired goal.
