US team begins NCAA audit

A team from the United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has begun an assessment of the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA). A four-member team led by Louis Alvarez arrived in Lagos yesterday to carry out the auditing which commences today, August 21. Th e other members are operations specialist, L. P. Vanstory, airworthiness specialist, Benjamin Garrido, and an attorney, Jeff rey Klang. FAA offi cials will assess the country’s aviation law, regulations and oversight capability in accordance with the eight critical elements as defi ned in International Civil Aviation Organisation’s (ICAO) document 9734. In addition, during the assessment, the team will need to visit the facilities of an airline operator’s certifi cate (AOC) holder to look at its operations and maintenance organisations. At the end of the assessment there will be a debriefi ng session at the headquarters of the NCAA in Lagos
