UTME 2018: Terhemba not highest scorer – JAMB

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has, in statement signed by its head of media, Dr Fabian Benjamin, said Ape Terhemba Moses was not the highest scorer in the 2018 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), but one Galadima from Borno state with a score of 364.
“The attention of the board has been drawn to a publication in the Daily Sun of Tuesday 31st, July 2018, where Ape Terhemba Moses from Benue state with 354 score in the 2018 JAMB UTME was presented as the candidate with the highest JAMB score in the entire 2018 exercise,” the statement read in part.
This report was absolutely not correct and demands immediate retraction from the paper as Galadima Israel Zakari from Biu, Borno state, who sat for the examination in Ogun state and scored 364 is the candidate with the highest score in the 2018 UTME exercise,” Benjamin said.
He noted that the outcome of the 2018 UTME exercise showed that Galadima came top, after Galadima is Adekunle Samuel Jesufemi from Ogun state who sat for his examination in Abeokuta and score 358; third position is Alikah Anthony Oseghale from Edo state who sat for the examination in Ekpoma and score 357; fourth is Ademola Ebenezer Adetola from Ogun state who sat for the examination in Lagos score 355.
Akinyemi Olatunbosun Paul from Ogun state, who wrote his examination in Lagos, Ape Terhemba Moses from Benue state, who wrote the examination in Makurdi and ObiObuoha Abiamamela from Rivers state who wrote the examination in Port Harcourt all came fifth with a tie score of 354.
From the above analysis, it’s clear, however, that Ape Terhemba Moses from Benue state with 354 score is the fifth in the 2018 UTME, but the highest scorer from Benue state and the North-central.
