Utomi, Tilije enter Delta governorship race

Renowned economist and the Director of Lagos Business School, Prof. Pat Utomi, has declared his intention to run for the 2015 governorship election in Delta state on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Also, Fidelis Tilije, a three-time former running mate to Great Ogboru, a governorship candidate of the Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) in previous elections, has thrown his hat into the governorship ring.

By their declarations, Utomi and Tilijie have joined the swelling number of governorship aspirants on the platform of the APC.
Speaking at a meeting of Anioma APC leaders in Ibusa, Oshimili North local government area of the state, Utomi said he was moved to join the race to contribute his quota to the good governance of the state, stressing that enough was enough.
He said a change for good governance which could only come through the APC was what Deltans needed “and not unrepentant corrupt and failed politicians.”

On his part, Tilije stated that he joined the governorship race to correct all the wrongs and starvation the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had inflicted on the people.

He said: “APC wants to give a fair and reasonable government; a government of the people, for the people and by the people. A government of the people is a mass movement. APC is a mass movement; a mass movement comes from the people.

“When APC takes over power, we will provide not only quality, but also free education, good transportation and general improvement on governance. Governance will be given real meaning and it will touch everyone.”

The meeting which was attended by members from across the nine local government areas in Delta North lasted for several hours.
Chairman of Anioma APC Leaders Forum, Delta state, Engr. Hyacinth Enuha, carpeted the Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan-led administration, describing it as “a visible monumental failure in all ramifications.”
