Utomi urges youths to shun ‘stomach politics’

Political economy expert, Prof. Pat Utomi, has urged the younger generation to resist the temptation of allowing their political decisions to be determined by unscrupulous politicians.
Also, he warned them against allowing politicians to buy them with mundane needs of life or what is usually referred to as ‘stomach infrastructure’ stressing that it amounts to mortgaging their future.
Utomi stated that Nigeria needed a system based on honesty and merit, in order to surmount the numerous problems.
The Don admonished the youths to look for ideas that will make their future as one in which they can be competitive with anybody on planet earth.
Utomi made the call at an event tagged, “Discover Me,” and organized by the Simply Worship International Ministry in partnership with Heritage Foundation.
According to him, youths should be looking at people whose track records show a commitment to service, a commitment to thinking very clearly about things and not allowing themselves to be sucked into a one-bag-of-rice kind of basis for making decisions.
Continuing, Utomi said: “young people, first of all have to realize that leading is not about saying, ‘It is my turn; you have to give it (leadership) to me.
’ You have to be prepared to lead,” Utomi said.
The Senior Pastor of Simple Worship International Ministry (SWIM), Rev. David Atenaga, explained that the event was held to inspire the youths to realize their essence in life and enable them to live purpose-driven lives.
